Western Sound 4/11/2010

With the earlier than average fish in the usual spots along the housy, I decided to search closer to home. I stopped by a small outflow, not near the housy, for the outgoing tide. There was a nice rip forming along the channel so I cast across current and let the fly drift and swing. On my third cast I was retrieving along the current seam slowly, when this guy took my rays flatwing.

It is hard to tell from the pic, but he had a very dark back, and a gorgeous purple sheen to him. Didnt fight as hard as some of the housy fish, but great to connect! The wind was maddening at times, but would lay down as the sun came out between the clouds.
